MACEDONIA: Government Accelerates Gasification Process

Prime Minister Nikola Gruevski rejected claims made by SDSM opposition party on Sunday that he was delaying the process of gasification in Macedonia on purpose.

The process is not delayed, quite the opposite, we are accelerating it. When SDSM was the ruling party in Macedonia, gasification faced a standstill. Now, preparations are being made for gasification development, stated Gruevski on Sunday.

He stressed that an oral agreement had been made with Russia regarding the payment of the old clearing debt through construction of gas line system in Macedonia.

It is expected preparations to be completed in a year, said Gruevski elaborating that deals with banks to finance the gas line construction were under way, because Russia's clearing debt would not be sufficient to cover the entire infrastructure.
