Bosnians are frustrated with their country's political life and doubtful that the current crop of politicians will be able to change it, analysts say.

Bosnians went to the polls Sunday (October 1st) after a markedly tense campaign that saw a rise in nationalistic rhetoric. At the same time, analysts say the vote is unlikely to dispel growing frustration about the country's political life.

The Office of the High Representative in Bosnia-Herzegovina stated on Monday that the general elections held on Sunday were dignified and conducted in the best possible fashion.

High Representative Christian Schwarz-Schilling congratulated Bosnian authorities on the successful organisation of the elections and citizens on a significant turnout, calling on political parties to accept election results.

Prime Minister Adnan Terzic predicted on Sunday (October1st) that an upcoming report by the European Commission (EC) on BiH would give a negative assessment of the country's readiness to seal a Stabilisation and Association Agreement with the EU. "The information that we have obtained suggests that the EC would not recommend the sealing of the accord, primarily because of the blockage of the police reform," he told a news conference in Sarajevo. A BiH government delegation visited Brussels last week.
